Sidekick is moving closer to the work. Give it a better brief.
Shopify’s June update connects more app context and proactive suggestions. A bounded task still makes the result easier to judge.

The useful part
Keep these three things in mind.
- Third-party app support depends on participating integrations.
- Pulse remains early access for certain merchants.
- A named scope, source check, and approval owner make a suggestion usable.

The June update expands the working context
Shopify’s Spring ’26 announcement on June 17 described Sidekick App Extensions for working with participating third-party apps, alongside proactive Sidekick Pulse recommendations. The examples included partners such as Klaviyo, Loop, and Smile. These are supported integrations, not a promise that Sidekick understands every installed app.
Current help documentation adds a useful availability boundary: Pulse is in early access for certain merchants. It requires recent sales activity, suitable admin access, and Shopify Network Intelligence. An announcement about the direction of the admin is therefore different from a feature every store can use today.
Turn a suggestion into an inspectable task
The potential benefit is less context switching. Use a clearer task definition to evaluate whether that helps. Instead of asking an assistant to fix retention, name a period, a customer group, the records to inspect, and the decision you are considering.
For a hypothetical replenishment review, ask for a summary of returning-buyer behavior over a named period, with the definitions and missing information visible. Ask it to distinguish observations from explanations. If it proposes a change, request the specific records or settings involved. A plausible explanation should remain a hypothesis until you can inspect what supports it.
Keep the approval meaningful
Shopify’s guidance says its AI tools present changes for review, and recommends checking generated work before approving it. Pulse likewise describes approval before changes are applied. Use that checkpoint to check scope and consequences, rather than treating it as a final confirmation button.
Start with one reversible task and compare the result with the source records. Name a staff owner for follow-up and keep a short note of what changed. This is a good fit for an operator with a clear question and accessible store context; it is a poor substitute for an undefined strategy or missing operational policy. Verify that the required app connection is supported before building a routine around it.
